What I Write

My young adult novels are dark, edgy, and realistic. Although I love paranormal and fantasy books, I prefer to create stories that could really happen (and in many cases, really are happening). For me, the echo of a story set firmly in the real world always haunts me long after I've read the final word. If you like Ellen Hopkins, Jay Asher, and Neal Shusterman, you might like my books, too.

Halloweeeeen!

Halloween is by far my fave holiday of the year. I'm excited for a few reasons:

1.) Any candy we don't pass out to neighbor kids--I get to eat it.

2.) This is the first year my daughter will be old enough to actually "walk" to a couple of houses with her monster goody bag in hand (she's almost 2). And before you ask, no that's not her up there...just a random pic from Google Images :o)

3.) Every year--EVERY SINGLE YEAR--these two boys from the neighborhood dress up like Navy Seals (in full 3D camo) and lurk about in the shadows.  It's absolutely hilarious (now that we know they aren't serial killers) watching them run, drop and roll, and hide in everyone's yards.  Then they innocently walk up to our house and chime, "Trick-or-Treat!" before moving on to the next house.  I'm seriously waiting for my *crazy* neighbor to call the cops on them this year.

As soon as I find a free moment (ha!) I'm going to start my husband is going to start hauling out all the Halloween decorations.  If my Android doesn't crash for the zillionth time this month, I'll post some cute pics for y'all.

So, enjoy this pagan holiday with lots of chocolate, costumes with far-too-short hemlines, and teeny-boppers wielding plastic AK-47s and wearing RealTree camo.

By the way, did they ever find that missing author who sent Janet Reid a "fictional novel" query?  Just wondering...

  3. LOVE the shark costume! Wish I'd thought of it when my kids were still young enough to trick or treat. I'd also love to see your little neighborhood Navy Seals. I always miss the fun stuff. :)

About Me

I'm a writer of contemporary teen fiction. My bookshelf is SLAMMED with young adult novels and I should be on some sort of twelve step program for my spending habits in Barnes and Noble. And, for the record, I LIKE having real books, so no Nook or Kindle for this gal.
